Our Story

The story of Thenmala Ecoresort began in the early 1970s when Appavu Sundaram acquired land bordering the forests of Thenmala. While many questioned his decision, he saw extraordinary potential in the untouched landscape. For over four decades, the land flourished as a rubber plantation, patiently waiting for a greater purpose.

Years later, his younger son, Sundar Lal Sundaram, discovered the true beauty of the property. Captivated by its forests, hills, and spectacular views, he transformed his father's dream into reality. Without relying on consultants or rigid master plans, he carefully developed the resort through intuition, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.

Working alongside local craftsmen, the team built eco-friendly cottages using natural materials, created beautiful landscapes, and designed spaces where guests could experience nature without disturbing it. Today, Thenmala Ecoresort stands as a destination where comfort meets conservation.
